Bac2 selected as Plastics Industry Awards 2012 finalist for catalyst technology that cuts manufacturing costs
Southampton, UK, July 25, 2012: Bac2, the polymer materials company, has been selected as a finalist in ‘Best Technology Application of the Year’ category of the prestigious Plastics Industry Awards 2012 for the development of the CSR family of latent acid catalysts. The Awards Ceremony will be on Friday 28th September 2012 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
Bac2’s CSR catalysts improve manufacturing productivity, save energy, maximize yield and enable products of more consistent quality to be produced through better control of the polymerisation process applicable to a variety of manufacturing industries. Launched in 2001 to acknowledge the best companies and the best people in the industry, the Plastics Industry Awards reward excellence in materials usage, design and manufacturing. A judging panel is composed of industry experts and there are opportunities for supplier companies, OEM manufacturers, plastics processors, consultants and designers to demonstrate their innovations.
Bac2’s CEO, Mike Stannard, said, “It’s a great tribute to the whole team here that we’ve been selected by a panel of expert peers as finalists for this widely-acclaimed award. CSR catalysts were originally developed to simplify processing of our electrically conductive polymer, ElectroPhen, but have since been used a very wide range of applications. Using the catalysts, the storage life of pre-polymeric mixes has been extended to over 3 months, simplifying storage, transportation and materials handling, particularly in SMC and BMC production. What’s more, process efficiency improvements of over 20% have been demonstrated in pultrusion.”
